The United Nations Security Council has recognized the importance of women's participation and protection in conflict and post-conflict situations through various resolutions, including UNSCR 1325 and 1820. These resolutions emphasize the need for gender mainstreaming in peacekeeping operations and the inclusion of gender-responsive provisions in peace agreements. Hence, women and youth are used in participation, protection, conflict prevention, and relief and recovery.
